Colorado students traveled to College Park, Maryland from June 14-19 for a fun-filled week of competition, sightseeing, and interacting with over 3,000 other students from 47 different states, territories, and countries. For many, this was their first ever visit to Washington, D.C. and for others, this was the first time they had left the state.
Sixty-four Colorado students from twelve different cities formed “Team Colorado.” Team Colorado finalists included Pueblo West High School’s Eric Sun and Bryce Hill!
Team Colorado met with Senator Michael Bennett and had a private tour of the Capitol. Students asked intelligent questions about some of biggest current issues including local government control vs. large government intervention, the legalization of marijuana, Common Core, standardized testing, and the problems in the Middle East, immigration legislation, and wildfire management.
Congrats, Team Colorado! Way to represent NHDC at the national level!
